i must admit i have a short attention span.
since i heard about this big news a few days ago i've been excited and anxious to hear what it is.
today, however, i started to lose interest.
My initial frenzy of excitement has gone, i'm now able to patiently wait for the news to be revealed

i've just been thinking about my family.
they've treated us badly....really badly....especially on my husband's side.. do i want to see them 'normally' again......do i?
i've seen that i/we come after a book publishing company.
I'd say that knowing its a cult and the control it exerts by its constant propagander causes many to do unthinkable things, they are brain washed into this and if they ever broke free would have to re acess all their actions whilst under this influence. Having said that it would be hard to rebuild broken relationships after the event...but, this could be an area where the WTS no longer controlled any of us, breaking free from it completely - reuniting that which has become broken by it. It could also be a common ground that we can get to know this family again.

address marked on the back of a territory card as a do not call on?.
jw's staring at you from across the mall until you head over to say, hi?.
family members who are embarrassed by your presence?.
I see one elder and wife in the local super market at times and we exchange looks at one another, me thinking I never liked you, and them thinking the same no doubt! No calls at my home though - I thought they were supposed to call you once a year or something?

i have had a quick look and found no references to this, so - here goes..as in the mag we picked up on sunday.. worldwide % increase over 2004 = 1.3%.
memorial partakers 8524 (compared to 8570 in 2004).
most european and nth american lands show pretty static figs - britain 1% increase, canada 0%, germany 0%, france 1%, usa 0%... but spare a thought for the inhabitants of zambia where 1 person in 90 is a reporting witness, must be hell going down to the local market!
How does those leaving affect this percentage? Is this the overall increase allowing for those leaving/kicked out?

i was just wondering if anyone here votes in the elections?
considering how badly that some of us did on that test, i wonder if anyone is even concerned with politics?
do you care who your congressman is for your state?
I've long had an interest in politics, in fact the more I look back at my thoughts I realise I was quite at odds with the WTS, I just hadn't taken the final step in my thinking for many years...still thats another story, not voted yet though.

being a witness involves accepting what you might call a "pyramid of belief.
" witness doctrines are based on their interpretation of the bible, which is in turn based on the belief that the bible represents the word of god, which is in turn based on the belief that there is a god that communicates with humans, which is in turn based on the belief that the universe was intentionally constructed by an intelligent being.
the jw belief system is thus the very top block on the pyramid of beliefs.. witnesses are not in the habit of considering their beliefs in this way, so it can be eye-opening to take a look at what you honestly believe at each level of the pyramid.
Interesting exercise! In my case I was in the middle of the first questions until I got near the end and it became total disbelief which i'm guessing will be a pattern for a lot on this site. I would say my belief in God and the bible has sufferered since realising the reality of the witness teachings. I guess its a normal process to become cynical and distrustful at things.

if i told you that something bigger is on the horizon than dateline, bbc, cbc, sunday (australia), and all other tv programs which exposed the sexual child abuse cover-up by watchtower in 2002-2003, would you believe me?
have i ever misled you?
i'll answer that--no!
hi city fan! yeah i've seen pics of the cyber man and to be honest i'm not sure I like them yet - the old ones had a more emotion less look to them making them sinister - or is that just a childhood memory? I'll have to see what my kids make of it - they have been quite scared at the new series, which seeing it through their eyes is quite exciting to observe!

Added the following: this must seem out of place in this thread, it was in fact a reply to city fan, and in no way intended to ignore the exciting prospect of the big news, I too have family that I wish could break free from the lies.
has anyone else wondered why the witnesses hold a meeting in order to 'keep doing this in rememberance of me' ?
since i was old enough to think and reason (yes i know how terrible!
) i could never understand why our 'celebration', the one thing important to true christians in the year, was another meeting!

I could never understand why our 'celebration', the one thing important to true christians in the year, was another meeting! Why didnt we have meals and spend the time with our friends or family's, remembering the good that Jesus was supposed to have acomplished by means of his sacrifice in line with the type of arrangements we see in the bible? Instead we have this somber arrangement where all the elders had fresh haircuts and were unusually friendly to interested folk, and the bizzare ritual of passing round bread and wine only to be so called observers of it - we hadn't had any annointed ones in that congregation for the known history i had, and i'd attended for 25 years or so. It seems to me that due to the introduction of the great crowd and other sheep teaching they didnt know what to do and carried this on but in a ritualistic way in order to count those attending so to boost the number of interested persons

being raised in the 'truth', i obviously spent much of my youth in service.
of course, as we got older, my friends and i would act the fool in service as much as possible.
we used to use the names of popular rap artists with the old farts we called on.
LOL! some funny stories! Mine are these: Working with my brother and if he didnt want to do a door and we argued over who's turn it was he'd ring the bell and the walk away knowing I was a sucker and felt compelled to stay! (he's an Elder big wig now ) Another time I was with a mate (pioneer) and we went into this block of flats (apartments for you US people ) and it stunk of piss so we were saying to the people 'glad to find yoUR IN(E)' which had us in fits of laughter so we couldnt do our presentations - making excuses like we had just told eachother a good joke! Other things were another mate was an Elders son and we used to say we were going to a piece of very under worked territory (basically one farm house out in no where) and we'd do this house and the go and buy comics and sweets and sit in the car eating and reading for our time...sigh such happy memories!
.
...before you really don't care about this anymore?.

Like most major experiences in life they never leave you entirely, but there is no reason for fear as we learn to live with things, returning to a relative normality. Sometimes as has been suggested our 'theocratic' training will effect our reactions to things that 'normal' (what is normal - lol) people take for granted. Each time we face something that our former mind reacts to it helps us move forward and beyond it, but we'll never forget...
